From a very early age, Frank Taylor showed an unusual ability with the art of image-making. But coming from a culture where at the time, being an “artist” was frowned upon, he simply saw his talents as something he could just do better than most; so he sought out alternative avenues for expression, and ultimately for survival.
Fate and destiny would lead him to the United States where he won a full scholarship to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There, he went on to garner multiple scholarships and awards, including the prestigious William Emlen Cresson Travel Scholarship which afforded a 4-month sojourn through western Europe.
Frank is now pleased and proud to share a selection of visionary works — culled from these myriad experiences — as limited-edition giclée reproductions for your private collections and the thoughtful enjoyment of generations to come.
AT RIGHT: Frank Taylor stands in front of ‘THIS IS MY BELOVED SON’ — a Work In Progress — 36″ x 28″ in his studio outside Atlanta, GA.
Painted from life and pure imagination, this Symbolist still life was conceived and is rendered using Renaissance manner and technique.
It draws upon established Christian iconography and attempts to offer an alternative interpretation to the traditional theological paradigms.
An open edition, life-size set of giclée reproductions will be made of this image — each signed, dated, and numbered by the artist.
The entire reproduction process will be personally supervised by the Artist, and made utilizing Archival Inks on Archival Paper which with normal care and handling, are guaranteed to last a minimum of 100 years without fading or deterioration of any kind.
Each giclée print is accompanied by a signed, dated, and studio-stamped Certificate of Authenticity.
This original painting has been wrapped in plastic and stowed against his studio wall for the past 21 years — unseen by anyone.
No more. Frank believes that the time is ripe to share this remarkable conception and imagery with a small number of discerning private collectors.
Rendered in a hybrid Spanish-Italian styles of Velázquez and Caravaggio, this painting forces its viewers to question accepted truths and the biases of their own artistic and religious beliefs.
The Comforter Has Come is available as a limited edition of 800 at a reduced print size of 40″ x 35″ on Archival Paper or Canvas.
Each giclée print is accompanied by a signed, dated, and studio-stamped Certificate of Authenticity.
